Dominic L. Escalera, 37, is accused of offering the trooper 150 ecstasy pills and providing the gun to assault or kill his ex-girlfriend, who had received a protection order Feb. 8 after alleging physical and verbal abuse, WFMZ reports citing Allentown police.

The agreement was made toward the end of January, when police say Escalera gave the undercover trooper his ex’s address and photo, the report says.

Escalera, who had no confirmed address, also provided the trooper with a stolen and loaded .44 caliber Ruger revolver he had illegally purchased about three weeks prior, as well as a bag with nearly 30 extra rounds, the outlet reports.

The trooper dropped Escalera off at the Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem, where the defendant planned to solidify an alibi during the time of the attack, the outlet says.

Escalera, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was taken into custody shortly after and charged with attempted homicide, receiving stolen property, illegal possession of body armor and several firearms offenses.

He was taken to Lehigh County Jail pending a hearing.
